Articles featuring Washburn

History

In Washburn, the Walker High School was built of sandstone blocks and actually looked like a castle. The football field was right next to the school and so the team's name was "The Washburn Castle Guards"

The Walker High School was destroyed by fire February 5, 1947 . . . but to this day all of Washburn's teams are called the Washburn Castle Guards.
