History

From Athletic Director Mike Daniels:

To our knowledge, Watertown High School in Watertown, WI is the only high school in the United States that proudly identifies itself with the Gosling. The school mascot was adopted in 1920 replacing "The Blue and Whites". The city of Watertown in the early 1900s attracted German settlers that brought along a technique called "noodling". This technique of force feeding the geese in order to prepare them for holiday dinners proved to be a huge market for the city. Watertown Stuffed Geese adorned tables across the country and in Europe bringing a large economic development to the city. The art of noodling geese put Watertown on the map.

About Gus the Gosling

Not only does Gus lead one mean "rollercoaster" for the fans, he has also been found participating in the barrel races at the Wisconsin Regional Equestrian Competition and also running in the Watertown 5K Run from the Cops race!

Gus was also instrumental in leading the Harlem Shake at the end of our Lip Dub video (10:15); see below.
