CG-B's Spencer Jacque still considering college options

One of the state's top prospects to still be uncommitted, Cedar Grove-Belgium class of 2010 linebacker
Spencer Jacque (5-10, 190) is currently considering options at a number of schools ranging from Division I-FBS down to Division III.
“I talked with coaches from North Dakota State and South Dakota State and both schools asked me to walk-on,” Jacque told WSN on Sunday evening. “St. Cloud State offered me a preferred walk-on also. Iowa State has been very interested in me as a walk-on and requested a lot of film from my head coach including three game films and my highlight film. I'm waiting to hear back from them. Eastern Illinois also talked to my coach and expressed interest in me as a walk-on too.”
While walk-on options seem to be plentiful, they aren't Jacque's only opportunities to play football at the collegiate level.
“I went on two official visits to Upper Iowa in January and Northern Michigan last weekend,” Jacque said. “Both schools offered me a scholarship while I was on the visit.”
In addition to the two schools extending scholarship offers and the five schools talking walk-on invitations, Jacque has also received interest from Division III UW-Whitewater.
“Still am yet to decide where I am going to play football,” Jacque said of his decision process. “Most of these schools have a legitimate shot at me attending there, including UW-Whitewater.”
Jacque's career post-season honors include
Sheboygan Press first-team all-area and first-team all-conference as a senior,
Sheboygan Press first-team all-area and first-team all-conference as a junior, and honorable-mention all-conference as a sophomore.
He totaled 182 tackles, 23 tackles for loss, seven forced fumbles, two sacks and two interceptions as a junior as well as 101 total tackles as a sophomore.
Jacque was also named a second-team all-conference running back as a senior.
Kettle Moraine's Everett Scott headed out West to Wyoming

Here's a note for you specialists (kickers, punters, long snappers) out there. The beast known as the recruiting process is a whole other animal for you compared to your brethren the position player.
While most position players from the class of 2010 have held scholarship offers for months, possibly even years, and most signed, sealed, and delivered their national letters of intent back on signing day, the specialists of the world still find their college football paths in limbo.
Will they be on scholarship right away like Whitefish Bay's Will Hagerup at Michigan? Will they be a walk-on up until the point that they're named the starter and then they earn a scholarship such is the case of Menomonee Falls' Kyle French at Wisconsin? Or maybe they'll be a preferred walk-on their entire career and never receive a scholarship offer?
The answer to all of those questions depends on the particular prospect, the college they select, the scholarship distribution at that particular college, and the college coaching staff's philosophy towards giving scholarships to their specialists.
Because of this many specialists don't make their final decision and commitment status known until well after National Signing Day.
Such is the case of Kettle Moraine kicker/punter
Everett Scott (6-1, 215) who fielded interest from Valparaiso, William & Mary, James Madison, Old Dominion, South Dakota State, Drake, UW-La Crosse and UW-Whitewater before ultimately accepting a preferred walk-on invitation to the University of Wyoming.
“I have committed to play football at the University of Wyoming,” Scott told WSN. “I've been told I have an opportunity to come in and compete for the job. There is always the possibility that I could get redshirted. The Kohl's people believe I have a legitimate chance to earn playing time this year.”
Not only was the potential for early playing time appealing to Scott, but the chance to attend a Division I-FBS school who plays big-time opponents was also a perk.
“Wyoming defeated Fresno State in a bowl game last year and will play games this upcoming season at Texas, against Boise State, and a strong Mountain West Conference schedule,” Scott explained.
A Lake Country Publications first-team all-area and second-team all-conference selection at kicker, Scott completed 19 of 19 extra point attempts, 3 of 3 field goal attempts inside of 50-yards (30, 34, 46-yards), averaged 61-yards per kickoff, and pinned 70% of his kickoffs in the end zone as touchbacks as a senior.
Also a second-team all-conference punter, Scott averaged 36-yards per punt and pinned 10 inside of the 20-yard line in 2009.
Scott is listed as a 4.5-star prospect and ranked as the No. 72 kicker in the nation by Jamie Kohl of Kohl's Kicking. He's also listed as a 4-star prospect and ranked as the No. 138 kicker in the nation by Chris Sailer of Chris Sailer Kicking.
As a punter, Chris Sailer lists Scott as a 4-star prospect and the No. 48 ranked punter in the nation while Jamie Kohl gives him a 4-star rating.

The scholarships keep mounting at Kenosha Bradford High School.
Class of 2011 running back Melvin Gordon already boasts five scholarship offers to his name and now teammate and Red Devils defensive back
Trae Waynes (6-0, 180) is up to two Division I offers.
“I received my second scholarship offer this afternoon from the University of North Dakota,” said Waynes who already listed an offer from North Dakota State.
“I talked with the head coach, Coach (Chris) Mussman, and he said that I was the first one that they are offering in the class of 2011. They also said that they usually don't offer this early, but they really liked me. I also talked with Coach (Rod) Carey and the defensive backs coach (John Kelling) who said that they are looking at me to play safety.
“I don't know too much about UND but will be making a trip out there sometime this summer,” Waynes added.
It appears a new trio of Division I-FBS schools have also entered the mix as of late.
“I also had a very recent conversation with Coach (Mike) Hankwitz, the defensive coordinator from Northwestern University,” Waynes explained. “They are interested in me and want me to come for an unofficial visit.
“Also, I have been having regular contact with Central Michigan and Bowling Green and they also want me to set up a time for an unofficial visit.”
The interest from Northwestern, Central Michigan and Bowling Green joined that previously expressed by Wisconsin, Indiana, Michigan, Michigan State, Oklahoma, Iowa State, Kansas State, Clemson, Syracuse, UCLA, Army and Eastern Illinois.
A honorable-mention all-conference selection as a junior, Waynes really made a name for himself even prior to the 2009 season thanks to some outstanding results at the National Underclassmen Combine's u100 Midwest Camp held in Indianapolis.
There he posted a 4.33-second 40-yard dash, 4.31-second shuttle, 30-inch vertical jump and 108-inch broad jump. He also won the u100 Midwest Camp's Fastest Man Award.

Already listing offers from Wisconsin, Iowa, Minnesota and Washington State, Gordon garnered offer No. 5 on Monday via yet another Big Ten Conference school.
“Just got an offer from Indiana University today,” Gordon said in a short message to WSN on Monday evening.
Still receiving recruiting interest from Syracuse, Miami, Michigan, Northwestern and a whole host of other Division I schools, don't look Gordon's rush of scholarship offers to end anytime soon.

Milwaukee Journal Sentinel first-team all-area,

Also a standout in track, Gordon was a state qualifier in the long jump and a sectional qualifier in the 4x200 meter relay as a sophomore.

-Already holding a scholarship offer from the University of Minnesota, Brookfield Central offensive lineman
Marcus Aprahamian (6-5, 300) picked up his second scholarship offer this weekend thanks to yet another Big Ten Conference school.
“I received an offer from Indiana University yesterday,” Aprahamian told WSN on Sunday morning.
“My dad and I visited Indiana this weekend to see the campus and attend the IU basketball game. I met with a group of coaches, including Coach (Matt) Canada and Coach (Kyle) Conner, the tackles and tight ends coach. We then met with Head Coach (Bill) Lynch and we talked about IU and where the program is heading. He offered me a scholarship, and we talked about why IU would be a good fit for me. It was pretty exciting.
“When I met with Coach Conner we talked about the plays IU runs and how their coaching structure is a little different from other schools,” Aprahamian explained. “I like the new facilities, including the new weight room and football offices. The new student academic center will be finished this summer and will be in Memorial Stadium. I was really left with a good feeling about the campus, the coaches and the future of the program.”
While Minnesota and Indiana are his only scholarship offers to date, plenty of other schools are still expressing interest in the talented offensive line prospect.
“In the coming weeks, we are attending junior days at Michigan, Notre Dame and Iowa. I am also excited about visiting Minnesota and meeting the coaching staff in person and touring the campus. We are also trying to schedule a trip to Duke, who has been talking to Coach (Doug) Lange and requesting that I come down for a visit.
“Hopefully, I will have enough information where I feel comfortable committing this summer so I am not distracted from playing football once the season starts,” Aprahamian added.
A participant in the U.S. Army National Combine in San Antonio, Aprahamian was named CNI Newspapers honorable-mention all-suburban and first-team all-conference as a junior. He also received honorable-mention all-conference honors as a sophomore.
