FOOTBALL

Offense

Levell Coppage, Sophomore (Oak Park, Ill.), Running Back of UW-Whitewater

Coppage compiled 199 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 23 carries in a 42-12 victory at UW-Stevens Point on Oct. 31.  Coppage also recorded the team’s longest rushing play of the season with a 68-yard touchdown sprint.  The Pointers entered the contest holding their opponents to an average of less than 100 rushing yards per game, but the Warhawks were able to register 240 rushing yards.

Defense

Adam Churchill, Junior (Plum City), Defensive Back of UW-Stout

Churchill recorded a game-high 12 tackles, including nine solo in a 35-28 victory at UW-La Crosse on Oct. 31.  His 12 tackles were a season high and helped the Blue Devils defeat the Eagles for the seventh time in the last 10 meetings.

Special Teams

Greg Klingelhutz, Sophomore (Chanhassen, Minn./Holy Family), Returner of UW-River Falls

Klingelhutz gave the Falcons a spark in a 31-28 overtime win over UW-Platteville at Ramer Field on Oct. 31.  After UW-Platteville tied the game, 7-7, late in the first quarter, Klingelhutz returned the ensuing kickoff 91 yards for a touchdown.  It was the first kickoff return for a touchdown in the conference this season.  Klingelhutz finished the game with three kickoff returns for 136 yards and returned one punt for eight yards.

Midwest Conference Special Teams Performer of the Week


Jacob Gahart, Fr., Kicker, Ripon College (Elkhorn, Wis.)
With a 31-yard field goal early in the second quarter of Saturday’s 38-17 win at Grinnell, Jacob Gahart broke Ripon’s school record for most field goals in a single season, connecting on his ninth of the season.
