WSN High School Football Awards

About the Awards

Wisconsin Sports Network WisSports.net is proud to announce the 1st Annual WSN High School Football Awards.

These awards will be presented annually to deserving senior student-athletes selected to represent one of seven positions:  quarterback, running back, wide receiver/tight end, offensive line, defensive line/linebacker, defensive back, and kicker/punter.

Similar to awards in college football, the WSN Awards will be named after a player with strong ties to the state that positively exemplifies what Wisconsin high school football is all about. With the support and cooperation of these namesake partners, we look forward to providing exposure and recognition to outstanding football players across the state.

The representatives for the positions are as follows (click on their name to go to the player/award page):

Pre-season watch lists have been created from a combination of coach input and nominations, returning all-conference lists, WSN Recruiting Expert Marlin Lee’s player rankings, and player evaluation. The pre-season watch lists consist of between 50-100 players.

Those lists will be trimmed to 15-30 semi-finalists for each position halfway through the year, with five finalists to be selected at the outset of the playoffs. A panel of WSN staff along with several veteran prep sports journalists throughout the state will review the finalists and select a winner for each award, with an announcement made the week of the state football finals. Winners will receive an award and a note of congratulations from the position namesake.

Each award will have its own page, featuring a biography on the namesake player as well as the Watch List for that position. Each namesake has chosen a charity to promote as well. An ad for the player's charity of choice will appear on their page. For more information on the charity or to donate, please click on the ad.

Further information including watch lists, updates, player stats, and articles will be published on WisSports.net throughout the year, so be sure to visit often.
