Antigo Red Robins

Road to State - Sectional 1 of the Division 1 field had been split in half geographically since the WIAA started seeding regional teams. For Antigo, this year's decision to combine previously separated regionals didn't seem to matter much, as the top-seeded Red Robins waltzed through sectional play. Suprisingly, Antigo's closest postseason competitor was ninth-seeded River Falls in the Sectional Finals, who posted a 56-44 final. The Robins then took out defending sectional champ Eau Claire North 48-34 in the semifinals and Great Northern Conference rival Merrill 62-45 to punch their ticket to Madison.

Notes - The season story for the Red Robins this season has been the offensive output of 6'3" senior guard Jordan Mach, whose 29.5 points per game ranks second in the entire state in scoring... Senior forward Skylar Cameron averages double digits as well, chipping in 13.4 points per game... Unbeaten Antigo ranks ninth in Division 1 points per game with 64.9, while giving up a division-best 40.1 points... This will be the Robins' 13th State appearance and first since 1995. Their first State tournament was almost a century ago, as Antigo went 2-2 in 1919.

The Number - 25.0 - Antigo not only shuts teams down, its scores a ton of points too-- translating to a division-best 25 points per game average margin of victory this season. In fact, only one team has come within single digits of Antigo this season-- Merrill took the Robins down to the wire but came up short, 58-56, in early February.
