Badgers announce player clinics for winter

The University of Wisconsin softball program has announced the dates for several player clinics during the upcoming winter.
On January 9, 2010 the Badgers will conduct a hitting, slapping and defensive work clinic while on January 10th they will hold two separate pitching clinics, one on fundametnals and speed and the other for advanced pitchers with a focus on moving the ball.
Session 1: DEFENSIVE CLINIC $85
Saturday, January 9th 9:00am - Noon
Learn the key fundamentals and techniques needed to succeed at your position. Drills and instruction will focus on perfecting mechanics and understanding position-specific responsibilities in the field. Throwing mechanics will be emphasized.
Session 2: HITTING CLINIC $95
Saturday, January 9th 1:00PM – 4:00PM
Take your hitting to the next level. Detailed instruction and breakdown of the successful Fastpitch swing. Campers will have the opportunity to hone their hitting skills through tee-work, soft toss, and machine drills. Bunting instruction will also be provided.
Session 3: LEFTY SLAPPERS CLINIC $30 Saturday, January 9th 4:30 – 5:30pm
Surprise and challenge the defense every time you step in the box. Improve your bunting and slapping from the left side on your way to becoming a “Triple Threat”. You must attend the hitting clinic to be eligible for this session.
Session 4: PITCHING CLINIC I $75
Sunday, January 10th 9:00am – 11:00am
Emphases on fundamentals, mechanics, power and speed. Pitchers must provide their own catchers.
Session 5: PITCHING CLINIC II $95
Sunday, January 10th Noon – 3:00pm
Advanced training for rise, drop, and curve.
**Must be at least 12 years of age to attend this clinic. Pitchers must provide their own catchers.

The Milwaukee City Conference will be one big conference in softball, not two divisions anymore (no more Zussman nor Martin). We will play an unbalanced conference schedule.

Potosi softball looking for tourney in Beaver Dam/Horicon area

Potosi Varsity Softball is looking for one or two tournaments to get into this upcoming season in the Beaver Dam/Horicon area as we have family to stay with. Wondering if you could post this on the wissports page for us. We are also looking for a team to play a game at Helfaer Field and another team to play us at Hitters in Middleton. John Roth - Tournament director for the Fall Xplozion in the Dome fastpitch tournament at Chula Vista in Wisconsin Dells says there is still room and time for teams to enter the tournament.
Teams are guaranteed four games in the tournament which is open to 10-U through 19-U teams.
