Anna Lutz of Marshall and Kylie Schmidt of Mishicot highlight the 2021 Division 4 WBCA all-state team as repeat selections.
Lutz is a three-time selection and led Marshall to a 22-4 record and Division 3 sectional final appearance, dropping a double-overtime contest against eventual state champion Lake Mills. The 6-foot-1 UW-Milwaukee signee averaged 17.8 points, 8.4 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.9 steals and 1.3 blocks per game for coach Doug Pickarts and the Cardinals.
Schmidt led Mishicot (20-2) to the program's first state title in program history, defeating Mineral Point in the D4 state championship game. The 6-foot Purdue Northwest signee averaged 16.9 points, 9.2 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 3.0 steals per contest for coach Mike Garceau and the Indians.
Macy Donarski led Aquinas (22-1) to a Division 3 state runner-up finish. The Blugolds fell to Lake Mills in the title game. The 5-foot-8 point guard averaged 19.7 points, 3.7 rebounds, 7.0 assists and 3.8 steals per game for coach and father Dave Donarski.
Mackenzie Holzwart led Howards Grove (24-2) to three state tournament appearances. The Tigers lost to Division 3 state champion Lake Mills in a state semifinal as a senior. Holzwart, a 5-foot-8 Northern Michigan signee, averaged 16.8 points, 4.3 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 3.7 steals per contest for coach Heidi Georgeff and the Tigers.
Desiree Kleiman helped lead Mishicot to the school's first-ever state title. The 6-foot Minnesota State Mankato signee averaged 16.4 points, 8.2 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.7 steals per contest for coach Garceau and the Indians, which finished the year with a 20-2 record.
Mallory Lindsey helped lead Mineral Point (17-6) to a Division 4 state runner-up finish. The Pointers fell to Mishicot in the title game. The 5-foot-4 guard averaged 11.7 points, 2.7 assists and 1.9 steals per game for coach Michael Keyes and the Pointers. Lindsey also shot 62-for-165 from behind the arc.
Laura Nickel, an honorable mention pick in D3 last season, takes home first-team WBCA all-state as a senior. The 6-foot wing averaged 17 points, 9.1 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 3.2 steals per contest for coach Pickarts and the Cardinals, which finished the year with a 22-4 record.
Raegan Sorensen led Unity to a 21-1 record and a Division 3 regional final appearance. The 5-foot-7 guard averaged 23.8 points, 7.6 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 5.1 steals per game for coach Joe Tilton and the Eagles.
Alayna Suprenand of Winnebago Lutheran is one of big comeback stories of the 2020-21 season. The 5-foot-8 guard missed her junior year and the majority of her sophomore year with ACL injuries. Suprenand, a Bemidji State signee, averaged 17.1 points, 5.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 2.1 steals per game for coach Eric Schraufnagel and the Vikings, which reached Division 3 sectional play and finished the year with a 21-1 record.
Jacy Weisbrod helped lead Aquinas to a Division 3 state runner-up finish. The 5-foot-11 junior averaged 19.6 points with a state-best 99 three-pointers made while shooting over 47 percent from deep. Weisbrod also tallied 5.4 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.8 steals per contest for coach Donarski and the Blugolds, which ended the year with a 22-1 record.
