VNN Athlete of the Week: March 15-21

Below are the VNN Athlete of the Week Nominees for the week of March 15 through 21. Voting is open until Thursday at 4pm, so be sure to vote for who you feel is most deserving and spread the word. Users may vote once per day.

VNN Athlete of the Week Nominees: Mar. 15-21

Kelsey Baker, Sparta girls volleyball: Sparta picked up a trio of wins last week and Baker was a huge assist. First in a 3-0 sweep of Eau Claire North, she had 14 assists and added six kills and three blocks. She followed that up with 14 assists in a 3-0 sweep of Eau Claire Memorial. Baker then ended the week with 16 assists, seven kills, and nine digs in a 3-1 win over La Crosse Central.

Maddy Fortune, McFarland girls volleyball: McFarland has started of the alternate spring season 6-0 in girls volleyball as Fortune continues to set the team up in wins. First in a 3-0 win over Clinton, Fortune had 35 assists and added five aces. She finished the week with 25 kills and four aces in a 3-0 sweep of Edgerton.

Cheyenne Harris, Royall girls volleyball: Royall has exploded out to a 9-1 record in this shortened volleyball season. Harris led them to a pair of wins this past week over Scenic Bluffs rival Cashton and new conference foe Seneca. In the 3-1 win over Casthon, she had 11 kills and added seven aces and 12 digs. Harris finished the week with eight kills, six aces and nine digs in the 3-0 sweep of Seneca.

Olivia Minikel, Manitowoc Lincoln girls tennis: Minikel won two matches this past week in straight sets as Manitowoc Lincoln defeated Pulaski and Bay Port. Against Pulaski, she beat Kelsey Waggoner 6-0, 6-0 as the team won 7-0 overall. Minikel then defeated Allie Brosteau of Bay Port 6-0, 6-0 as the Ships won 5-1 as a team.

Kailee Sitter, Janesville Parker/Evansville girls swimming: Sitter won two individual and was a part of two relay winning teams as Janesville Parker/Evansville beat Racine Case 130-34 at their dual meet. Individually she won the 200 yard medley in 2:24.64 and the 100 yard butterfly in 1:06.27. Sitter then was a part of the 200 yard medley relay that won in 2:05.64 and the 200 yard freestyle relay in 1:51.66.
