University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, the four-time defending conference champion, has been picked to win the 2022 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) baseball title, according to a preseason poll conducted by the league’s head coaches and sports information directors. 

The Warhawks shared last year’s championship with UW-Stevens Point. It was the 20th regular-season championship in program history for UW-Whitewater and 10th for UW-Stevens Point. UW-Whitewater also won the WIAC Tournament title and earned a bid into the NCAA Division III Championship, advancing to the title game of the Whitewater Regional. 

UW-Stevens Point is pegged for second in this year’s conference predictions and followed by: UW-La Crosse; UW-Oshkosh; UW-Stout; UW-Platteville; UW-Eau Claire; and Finlandia University (Mich.). 

The 28-game conference schedule for each team begins on March 26. The top-four teams in the standings will secure a spot in the double-elimination WIAC Tournament that will be conducted May 12-14 at the No. 1 seed. The winner of the tournament receives the conference’s automatic NCAA bid.
