Carmen Northwest senior Ta'Quorion Tribune made the biggest splash among new entries into the state's scoring list leaders when he became the No. 1 single-game scorer of all time during a playoff game against Dr. Howard Fuller Academy. 

Tribune, a 5-foot-10 guard, scored 77 in that contest, a 122-61 victory in a regional semifinal of the WIAA Division 3 playoffs. Tribune's scoring spree broke the previous mark of 76 points, held by Saint Mary Catholic graduate Ron Dibelius in a victory over Columbus in 1956. 

Meanwhile, five players from Wisconsin's class of 2023 moved into the top 60 on the prestigious career scoring list, put together over the years by the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association and WisSports.net. 

In addition, two players added their names to the top single-season scoring list leaders and both are underclassmen with the potential to etch their names into additional lists over the next year or two.

Tribune helped Carmen Northwest to a 20-4 record and the title of the Gold Division of the Milwaukee City Conference by averaging just over 20 ppg. He earned third-team all-league honors while playing for coach Dupree Fletcher. Carmen Northwest's season came to an end in the regional finals as Dominican defeated the Eagles, 95-66.

Carmen Northwest led Dr. Howard Fuller Academy 79-24 at intermission and then outscored its foe 43-37 in the second half. Fuller Academy is a relatively new program that won just five games in 2022-23.  

Dibelius, a 6-foot-1 guard who played college basketball at Marquette and UW-Oshkosh in addition to a professional baseball career, made 33-of-39 shots from the floor and added 10 free throws for Saint Mary Catholic in its 118-30 win over Columbus on February 7, 1956. 

Also working their way into the leader board for most points in a single game during the 2022-23 campaign were Tommy Zakovic of Mellen and Rico Yarbrough of Beloit Memorial. 

Zakovec, a 5-foot-10 senior guard, netted 62 points in an 87-45 win over Lac Courte Oreilles to move into a tie for 16th place on the single-game scoring list. Zakovec, who averaged 27.9 ppg as a senior, made 14-of-38 shots from the field, 22-of-27 from the line and four-of-seven from three-point range en route to his career-high scoring total.

Yarbrough, a 6-foot-6 forward headed to NCJAA Division II Morton College in the fall, had 61 points in a 106-101 loss to Madison La Follette to move into 18th place on the single-game scoring list. Yarbrough made 20-of-32 shots from the floor, 11-of-13 from the line and 10-of-19 from three-point range in the loss to La Follette while also pulling down 10 rebounds. 

Southern Door sophomore Drew Daoust and Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau junior Cody Schmitz turned in huge scoring seasons for their respective teams and moved into the top 20 among the state's all-time single-season scoring leaders. 

Daoust, a 6-foot-2 guard, helped Southern Door to the Packerland Conference title and a 22-4 record by scoring a season total of 835 points to rank 17th on the all-time list. He averaged 32.1 ppg to rank third in the state and was named Player of the Year in the Packerland Conference. 

In two seasons of varsity competition, Daoust has scored 1,340 career points. 

Schmitz, a 6-foot-5 guard, scored 824 points in 2022-23 to help Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau to a 15-13 record. Schmitz moved into 19th place on the single-season scoring list and averaged 29.4 ppg. He has scored 1,811 points in three years of varsity competition. 

While five players moved into the top 60 among the state's career scoring leaders, three finished their high school careers with more than 2,000 career points.

De Pere senior Johnny Kinziger (6-0) completed his brilliant four-year career with a WIAA Division 1 state championship, a co-Mr. Basketball award with Milan Momcilovic of Pewaukee, and the No. 30 spot on the state's all-time scoring list with 2,134 points.

Kinziger, who committed to NCAA Division I Illinois State and helped De Pere to a 30-0 record, scored 397 points as a freshman, 586 as a sophomore, 587 as a junior and 564 as a senior for a program loaded with talent. He shot 55 percent from the field for his career, including a remarkable 45 percent from three-point range and 87 percent from the foul stripe. 

Ripon senior Riley Brooks went over 2,000 career points late in his high school career when he pumped in 25 points in a regional victory over Kewaskum. He finished his four years of varsity competition with 2,036 to move into a tie for 42nd place on the all-time scoring list.  

Brooks, a 6-foot-6 wing, will play college basketball at NCAA Division II Northern Michigan. 

Arrowhead senior Mac Wrecke (6-5), a UW-Green Bay recruit, became the all-time leading scorer at his school and moved into 45th place on the state's all-time scoring list with 2,033 points. Wrecke helped the Warhawks to a 27-3 record and second-place finish in the WIAA Division 1 State Tournament by averaging 18.0 ppg and scoring a total of 539 points in 2022-23. 

Wofford recruit Jeremy Lorenz of Brillion finished his career with 1,992 points to rank 51st all-time while Shiocton senior Dawson Schmidt scored 1,952 career points to rank 59th. 

Two others are just outside the top 60 with Momcilovic at 61 with 1,919 points and Jordan Malmlov of Prescott at 62 with 1,906 points.
