Below are the rSchoolToday Athlete of the Week Nominees for this week. Voting is open until Thursday at 2:00 pm, so be sure to vote for who you feel is most deserving and spread the word. Users may vote once per day.

Athlete of the Week Nominees: November 6-12

Ella Antoniewski, Waukesha South/Mukwonago Co-op

Antoniewski defended a pair of individual titles from last year as she competed in two individual and two relay events. The sophomore swimmer won the 200-yard freestyle for the second straight year, finishing in 1:47.14. Antoniewski also won the 500-yard freestyle for the second time, recording a winning time of 4:47.16. She also swam with both the 200-yard freestyle and 400-yard freestyle relay teams.

Karis Francis, Rhinelander

Francis won a quartet of Division 2 gold medals for the Rhinelander girls swim and dive team this past weekend at the WIAA State Championships at Waukesha South High School. She took home a pair of solo wins and also was a part of two winning relay teams. Francis took home gold in the 100-yard butterfly winning with a time of 56.05 while also winning the 100-yard breastroke in a time of 1:03.99. Francis was then a part of the 200-yard medley relay and 400-yard freestyle relay teams that both won titles. The 200-yard medley relay team won in 1:45.63 and the 400-yard freestyle was won in 3:30.61. Francis helped Rhinelander to a Division 2 team title as the Hodags won six of the twelve events.

Sienna Nitke, Ashwaubenon

Nitke took home a pair of Division 2 individual titles this past weekend in the 100 and 200-yard freestyle races and also was a part of a free-style and runner-up and third place team. The senior swimmer took home gold in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 50.68 after finishing as the runner-up last year. In the 200-yard freestyle she won in 1:48.98, improving on her bronze finish in 2022. Nitke was a part of the 200-yard freestyle relay team that finished behind Rhinelander by .18 seconds and also was a part of the 400-yard freestyle relay team that finished third with a time of 3:38.08.

Maggie Wanezek, Brookfield East

Wanezek had a great day at the 2023 WIAA Girls State Swimming and Diving Championships, collecting three gold medals and a silver, including one state record. The senior swimmer won the 100-yard backstroke for the third straight year, setting the record for the third straight year in the process, finishing in 50.97 seconds. Wanezek also won the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 1:58.43 and was a part of the 400-yard freestyle relay winning team, finishing in 3:25.32. Wanezek capped her day off by being a part of the 200-yard medley relay team that finished runner-up with a time of 1:42.08.

Olivia Wanner, Waukesha West/Catholic Memorial Co-op

Wanner was another multi-event winning swimmer this past weekend in the Division 1 state swimming championships. The senior took home gold in 50-yard freestyle with a time of 22.82 seconds. This after finishing third in 2022. Wanner then won the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 49.43 after getting bronze the past two years. She was a part of the 200-yard freestyle relay winning team that finished in 1:34.22 and the 400-yard freestyle relay team that finished in 3:25.48 and placed runner-up.
