Below are the rSchoolToday Athlete of the Week Nominees for this week. Voting is open until Thursday at 2:00 pm, so be sure to vote for who you feel is most deserving and spread the word. Users may vote once per day.

Athlete of the Week Nominees: May 27 - June 2

Logan Hicks, Arrowhead

Hicks was spectacular at the state track and field meet this past weekend, winning a pair of individual events and setting records in both along the way. The senior hurdler won both the 110 meter and 300 meter hurdles in Division 1 while also anchoring the 4x400 meter relay team that finished in fourth place. In the 110 meter hurdles, Hicks won with a time of 13.97 seconds, breaking the previous record held by Daurice Fountain of Madison Memorial. Hicks then won the 300 meter hurdles in a time of 36.92 seconds, breaking the previous record of 37.49. The 4x400 meter relay team finished fourth with a time of 3:19.55. Hicks accounted for 24 of the team's 60 total points, which led the Warhawks to gold in the Division 1 boys field.

Autumn Michalski, Chequamegon

Michalski finished off her prep sports career at Chequamegon in good order, winning three medals at this year's state meet, bringing her four year total to eight. The senior runner finished in second place in the 800 meter run despite breaking her own record from last year, finishing in 2:10.48, which was less than .5 seconds behind the first place finisher. Michalski then went on to win the 1600 meter and 3200 meter races in 4:55.09 and 10:28.57 respectively. For her prep career, Michalski won the 1600 meter race twice, and the 800 and 3200 meter races once each. She two runner-up finishes in both of those events in as well.

Manny Putz, Onalaska

Putz won a trio of events this past weekend at the WIAA State Boys & Girls Track and Field meet at UW-La Crosse. The junior runner took home a gold medal in both the 1600 meter and 3200 meter runs in the Division 1 field as well as being a part of the 4x800 meter relay winning team. Putz won the 1600 meter run in a time of 4:12.03, finishing just .34 seconds in front of the second place finisher. He then won the 3200 meter run in 9:08.75, more than two seconds faster than the next best runner. Putz was the second leg on the 4x800 meter relay team that won in a time of 7:47.49. The Onalaska boys team finished second with 44 total points, taking home a silver finish in Division 1.

Ben Smith, Hortonville

Smith took home his third straight state championship in the Division 1 shot put event, and did so in dominating fashion. The Oregon boys track and field commit and standout football player shattered the state record in the shot put event, finishing with distance of 70-09.50, besting the distance of 67-06 from 2005. It was Smith's third straight title in the event. He also competed in the discuss event which he finished runner-up in. His throw of 207.04 would have been a new meet record had Waterford's Bryce Ruland not thrown further this year.

Elletta Uddin, Osceola

Uddin nearly scored the entirety of Osceola's points scored as she competed in four events at the state tournament, accumulated points in all four, and set two state records along the way. The sophomore took home the crown in the 100 meter hurdles in Division 2, finishing with a time of 14.19 seconds, breaking the previous record of 14.29 seconds. She then won the 300 meter hurdles for the second straight season, breaking the meet record which she set last year as a freshman. Uddin won the event in 43.26 seconds. The sophomore then anchored the 4x400 meter relay team that finished runner-up with a time of 3:58.30 and was tied for third in the high jump, eclipsing 5-05.00. The Osceola girls track and field team finished fourth in the Division 2 standings with 33.50 points, as Uddin accounted for 31.50 of those.
