Fall Creek junior Grace Herrem has been selected as the rSchoolToday Athlete of the Week for the week of June 3-9 after a statewide vote on WisSports.net.
There were 2,637 total votes this week. Herrem topped all vote getters with 1,122 votes. Badger's Charlotte Matson came in second with 632.
Herrem was untouchable on the mound as she led Fall Creek to its first state championship in the softball team's first state appearance. The junior hurler took the mound in the Crickets 12-0, five-inning, run-ruled victory over Coleman in the Division 4 state semifinals. Herrem allowed just two hits while striking out six in the shutout win. She added a double, two RBIs and a walk from the plate. Herrem then pitched another gem in the WIAA Division 4 Softball State Championship against Cuba City, a 7-0 shutout win. Herrem tossed a complete game shutout, striking out three batters and allowing just four hits through her seven innings of work. She also added two hits and two RBIs from the plate.
