Thirty-two teams from across Wisconsin competed in the fourth annual WSN All-State Summer Shootout held Thursday at Beaver Dam High School. 

Following are some observations from the annual event:

Pool A Standings
Onalaska 3-0, Beaver Dam 2-1, Madison La Follette 1-2, Chippewa Falls 0-3.

Milton 3-0, Darlington 1-2, Waupun 1-2, Tomah 1-2. 

Pools A-B Most Valuable Player

EJ Salettel, 6-2, Jr., G, Beaver Dam
His picture-perfect follow through on perimeter jump shots served Salettel well in the Beavers' three games as he scored 28 in a win over Chippewa Falls, 26 in a loss to Onalaska and 21 in a victory over Madison La Follette. In addition, the elusive 6-foot-2 wing prospect also drilled three after three, finishing the three contests with 15 triples. Salettel has a quick release from outside the arc, but he can also ball fake, put the ball on the floor and then pull up for mid range jump shots. The returning second-team all-Badger Large Conference choice is one of several talented players at Beaver Dam and appears poised for a breakout season after averaging 16.6 points and 3.7 rebounds as a sophomore for coach Tim Ladron's squad.

Pools A-B Breakout Performer

Karson Lueck, 6-2, Sr., G, Milton
Lueck may not be a big scorer for the Red Hawks, but his presence looms large on both ends of the court as he has the ability to control tempo on offense along with being a physical perimeter defender. Lueck helped Milton to wins over Darlington, Tomah and Waupun with his sheer toughness and willingness to do whatever it took to help his team get the win. He scored in double figures each time out and repeatedly got into the lane to score, create contact and trips to the foul line, and find open teammates with his vision and passing. Lueck averaged 8.7 points and 5.4 rebounds as a junior, helping Milton to an 18-7 record. The returning honorable mention all-Badger Large Conference pick is the unquestioned leader for Milton heading into the 2024-25 campaign.

Pools C-D Most Valuable Player

Jamison Beesley, 6-3, Sr., G, Waterford
The catalyst behind Waterford's strong showing in Beaver Dam, Beesley is a physical lead guard with strength and very good court vision. He had 18 points in a win over Baraboo, 15 in a win over Mineral Point and 10 in a loss to Amery. Beesley got into the lane on a consistent basis and either scored, drew a foul or kicked the ball out to his talented backcourt running mate, Caden Gustafson. In addition to his prowess on offense, Beesley also gives Waterford a big guard to defend the perimeter while also hauling down rebounds. As a junior, Beesley earned second-team all-Southern Lakes Conference recognition after averaging 11.9 points, 7.1 rebounds and 5.7 assists for a Waterford squad that went 15-10.

Pools C-D Breakout Performer

Kale Schneider, 6-0, Soph., G, Lodi
Schneider competes with good basketball sense and is very fast with the ball in his hands. His ability to get into the lane, absorb contact and either finish or dish the ball to a teammate is impressive. Schneider relies more on his ability to get to the basket than his perimeter jump shot, but that serves him well as he has the strength and ball skills to repeatedly get near the hoop. As a freshman, Schneider picked up first-team all-Capitol North Conference honors after averaging 8.2 points. 4.8 rebounds and 5.5 assists. He was steady and productive in all three of Lodi's wins in Beaver Dam.

Pools E-F Most Valuable Player

Peyton Powers, 6-2, Jr., G, Columbus
Powers ran the show and dictated the tempo for Columbus, which defeated Baldwin-Woodville by five, Lomira by 11 and Cuba City by five in Beaver Dam. One of the state's better all-around athletes, Powers has the ball handling, passing and shooting skills all teams must respect. But he's also strong and athletic. Powers' ability to score, defend, rebound and find open teammates was evident in each game he played. As a sophomore, Powers averaged 16.0 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.4 assists while earning second-team all-Capitol North Conference laurels.

Pools E-F Breakout Performer

Evan Clausen, 6-5, Sr., G/F, Baldwin-Woodville
Strong. Skilled. Smart. Clausen checks all of those attributes and is one of the better collegiate prospects in northwest Wisconsin. A muscular 6-foot-5 wing, Clausen handled the ball well against pressure in Beaver Dam while also knocking down perimeter shots and getting into the lane and foul line. He finished with 23 points and two triples in a win over Cuba City while also drilling five three-pointers and scoring 15 points in a loss to Lomira. Clausen averaged 12.1 points, 4.2 rebounds and 2.5 assists as a junior en route to receiving second-team all-Middle Border Conference honors.

Easton Oliver, 6-4, Sr., G/F, Living Word Lutheran
Oliver isn't super quick or eye-popping athletic. But he is crafty. And smart. And skilled. Those positives were very effective for Living Word Lutheran in Beaver Dam. Oliver is part of an impressive three-star lineup that also features athletic senior forward Eric Britton and very talented freshman guard Jordan Evans. Oliver swished four three-point baskets and scored 20 points for Living Word Lutheran in its 53-32 win over Richland Center. He was also impressive for the Timberwolves against Central Wisconsin Christian and Potosi. Easton was voted first-team all-Midwest Classic Conference as a junior after averaging 19.0 points, 6.5 rebounds and 2.4 assists.

Pools G-H Breakout Performer

Isaiah Groom, 6-1, Sr., G, Potosi
Groom is part of a talented returning core of players at Potosi, which went 23-5 a year ago under longtime coach Mike Uppena. Along with classmates Aidan Uppena and Dawson Weber, Groom's return gives Potosi the edge once again in the Six Rivers West Conference. He scored 20 points in a win over Richland Center, and 14 each in outings against Central Wisconsin Christian and Living Word Lutheran. Groom averaged 9.6 points and 6.1 rebounds as a junior and received honorable mention all-league honors.
