The WSN Cup has crowned three winners for the 2023-24 season. This is the sixteenth year the WSN Cup has been awarded for athletic achievement to teams around the state.

Arrowhead won its third straight title in the large school division, making it fourteen titles in the sixteen years, dominating the WSN Cup large school division. Notre Dame won its second straight WSN Cup, winning the medium school division. The Tritons have won five overall in that division. Xavier won the small school division for the second straight season after its enrollment dropped under 500 for during the 2022-23 season, dropping it from the medium school division. The Hawks had been in the medium school division since that 2009, but dropped down a level and have now won their first WSN Cup.

Arrowhead has achieved a great deal of success in sports since the inception of the WSN Cup in the 2007-08 season, proof by the Warhawks winning their fourteenth title in sixteen seasons in the large school division.

This season, Arrowhead set the record for most points scored in the WSN Cup, accumulating 1,063 total points over the three sports seasons, surpassing its own record from the 2016-17 season of 1,015.33 points.

During the fall season, Arrowhead finished second in the standings with 356 points, coming 130 points behind Middleton in the standings. A state title in girls tennis, runner-up in boys volleyball, a third place finish in girls swim and dive, and a sectional final appearance in boys soccer accounted for a majority of the points.

The Warhawks then took its place atop the standings after scoring 332 points during the winter season, which was 155 more than Middleton. A state title in girls basketball, runner-up in boys basketball, and third place finish in boys swim and dive were the biggest point getters.

The spring season was the most lucrative for Arrowhead, scoring 375 points and clinching the WSN Cup title in the large school division. The boys and girls track and field teams both won a state championship team while the baseball team made the state tournament quarterfinals in Division 1. The girls lacrosse team finished one game short of the state championship in the newly minted WIAA sponsored sport.

It's been almost two decades of dominance by Arrowhead in the WSN Cup, and we reached out to for comment from the school. Athletic Director Ryan Mangan provided the following with regards to Arrowhead's athletic prowess.

We at Arrowhead High School are honored and appreciative to be acknowledged for winning the WSN Cup. Our student athletes and coaches work extremely hard to be their best. There are so many benefits to participating in Wisconsin High School sports and we strive to make our athletic programs accessible to all and well rounded. We appreciate the recognition and hope to continue to work together toward excellence.

Middleton finished second in the large school division standings for the third straight year after winning the only two titles not won by Arrowhead during the 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons. The Cardinals finished with 934.5 points. Muskego (605 points), Hudson (597.5 points), and Neenah (588 points) rounded out the top in the large school division standings.

Notre Dame has won nearly a third of the WSN Cup titles in the medium school division, capturing the crown for the second consecutive season. The Tritons won three straight WSN Cups from 2010-213 and then not again until last year during the 2022-23 year.

The Tritons scored 796.6 total points over the course of the season, which is the most scored in the medium school division since the 2012-13 season.

Notre Dame finished the fall season with 302 points, nearly 80 points ahead of the second place Edgewood Crusaders. The Tritons finished second in girls golf, third in girls cross country, made a sectional finals appearance in boys soccer, and missed the state championship in football by one game.

During the winter season, Notre Dame finished second in the standings scoring 197.27 points, behind Edgewood who accumulated 250 points. The Tritons scored points in just four sports, but got huge totals with the school's lone state title in boys hockey and then a state runner-up finish in girls basketball.

Going into spring, Notre Dame was up just 30 points on Edgewood, but used a dominant spring sports season to pull away, finishing with 297.33 points as compared to Edgewood's 225.66. Notre Dame finished runner-up in boys tennis, third in girls track and field, sixth in boys track and field, and came up one game short of the state tournament in girls soccer.

Notre Dame athletic director Matt Koenig provided the following quote in regards to winning the WSN Cup for the second consecutive season.

Notre Dame Academy and our school community is very honored and proud of earning this achievement. Our Athletes and Coaches work extremely hard throughout the year to be the best they can be and they all take pride in this accomplishment.  It starts with a commitment in the offseason of  lifting and conditioning and the dedication with long practices, weights, and film study during their seasons. This is an overall department award and all 508 of our athletes played a part in this honor. 

Notre Dame Academy prides ourselves in teaching the core values of Faith, Learning, Respect, Responsibility, Service and Trustworthiness. Athletics is an extension of the classroom and we try to prepare our student-athletes for life after high school  through hard work, teamwork and commitment. We Thank our faculty, staff and Administration for the role they play in educating the "whole person" in the classroom during the school day so they have an opportunity to compete after school. The components of education, faith and extra-curriculars all go together. 

This WSN Cup achievement is the epitome of everything we try to teach our student-athletes.

Congratulations to the Notre Dame community on winning its second straight WSN Cup!

Edgewood, who has bounced between the medium and small school divisions over the years was back in the medium division for the second consecutive season. The Crusaders have won six medium and three small school division WSN Cup titles and finished second. Edgewood finished with 689.99 total points to finish second. McFarland (497.5 points), Whitefish Bay (486.5 points), and Rice Lake (467.86 points) finished in the top five of the medium school division.

Xavier's drop in enrollment below 500 has resulted in the Hawks being placed in the small school division of the WSN Cup for the past two seasons. Both of those seasons have resulted in a WSN Cup title in the small school division.

The Hawks won the tightest race of the three this season, scoring 733.11 total points finishing just 31 points ahead of Aquinas in the standings.

A monster fall season was the biggest reason why Xavier took home the WSN Cup as the school scored 435 points. State championships in both girls cross country and girls volleyball were the top scoring sports for the Hawks, but that was just the start. The girls tennis team finished second at state while the boys soccer advanced to a sectional final. The girls golf team finished fourth in Division 2 at the state meet while the football team advanced to Level 4 of the playoffs.

The Hawks finished just sixth in the winter sports season, scoring just 100 points in two different sports. The girls basketball team finished runner-up at the state tournament, accounting for 80 of the 20 points scored, while the boys basketball team won a regional title.

The spring season was a bounce back for Xavier as the Hawks scored 198.11 points, finishing just 1.89 points behind Aquinas in the standings. The Xavier baseball team came one game short of a state tournament appearance. The girls track and field team finished sixth at state in Division 2 while the boys tennis squad finished second in their sectional.

Xavier athletic director Luke Herriges provided the following quote to WSN on winning the WSN Cup.

We are very proud to be named the winner of the WSN Cup small schools division for the second year in a row. Xavier has been absolutely blessed with wonderful sports seasons again this past school year. These accomplishments continue to grow Xavier pride and inspire future classes to achieve their goals. We have a tremendous coaching staff across the board that fully commits to the student-athletes and finds the best ways to continue to grow our programs while providing athletes with great experiences. Our students are dedicated to working hard, achieving excellence in the classroom, and honoring God in all we do.

Aquinas has won eight WSN Cup titles in the small school division in the sixteen years of the Cup's existence, though the Blugolds have not hoisted the Cup since the 2016-17 season. Aquinas finished with 702.62 points, finishing in a close second. University School of Milwaukee (351 points), Mineral Point (339.25 points), and Prescott (327 points) rounded out the top five in the small school standings.

Divisions - Starting in 2008-09 schools will be placed in three divisions. The Large School Division is for schools with enrollment over 1000. Medium Schools are classified as 500 to 1000 and Small School division is below 500. In 2007-08 schools with enrollments of 900 or more were in the large school division while schools with enrollments up to 900 were in the small schools division. 

Points - Points are awarded for finishes in the state tournament of every team sport. Generally, the top 32 teams in each sport are awarded points. If less than 32 teams participate in a non-bracket sport state meet then those are the only schools that are awarded points. For Co-op teams the total points are divided equally amongst all schools in the co-op.
