Week 1 WisSports.net Football Coaches Poll

Please note, divisional placement in our poll is based on our Enrollment Projections done earlier this year. Divisional placement in the WIAA playoffs is not determined until after the season and these projections can and will be different than the divisions at the end of the year.

Division 1

There was some relative stability in the Division 1 WisSports.net Coaches Poll for the first time, with Kimberly retaining the number one position, followed closely by Muskego, Franklin, and Verona. Mukwonago fell to Arrowhead in a top ten Classic Eight showdown, and the Indians dip to eighth this week ahead of a huge game against Muskego. Madison Memorial continued its strong start and the Spartans break into the top five this week.

Division 2

Not a single change in the Division 2 rankings this week with every ranked team scoring a victory. Rice Lake is number one again, as the Warriors have a tough one this week at Menomonie. Germantown, Slinger, Badger, and Kaukauna round out the top five.

Division 3

No losses by Division 3 ranked squads this week either, with Notre Dame still a dominating top team in the WSN Coaches Poll. Only some minor shuffling occurred further down the poll, as Grafton slides in front of Mount Horeb/Barneveld for third while Menomonie's win over Hudson has the Mustangs up one spot to seventh.

Division 4

West Salem remains on top of the Division 4 rankings, though Columbus' impressive win over defending champion Lodi has the second-ranked Cardinals inching closer. Middle Border Conference schools Prescott and Ellsworth make big jumps into the top five this week. Losses by Xavier and Lodi drop those teams down in the poll, while Saint Croix Central falls out completely. New to the rankings is number ten Freedom.

Division 5

Not much for changes in Division 5, where every ranked team scored a win last week. Wrightstown is on top once again, followed in the top five by Stratford, Saint Mary's Springs, Stanley-Boyd, and Kiel. The only minor change was Amherst moving ahead of Darlington for the number eight spot.

Division 6

Mondovi and Regis, who will meet in a huge Cloverbelt Conference game later this month, are the top two teams in Division 6, as Mondovi also has a tough game this weekend at Stanley-Boyd. Auburndale drops from third to sixth following a defeat at the hands of Edgar, while Bonduel and Reedsville fall out this week. New to the poll are Pardeeville at number seven and Cuba City at number ten.

Division 7

Potosi/Cassville continues on as the top-ranked team in Division 7, though second-ranked Iola-Scandinavia went down to Abbotsford and the T-Birds drop to fifth this week, allowing Edgar to move up one spot to second. Pepin/Alma and Black Hawk/Warren move into the top five due to losses by River Ridge and Kenosha St. Joseph. Ithaca enters the rankings at the number ten spot this week.

8-Player

McDonell Central continues as the top-ranked team in the WSN 8-Player Football coaches poll, followed by Gilman. Hurley leap-frogs Thorp for third. After already facing low numbers this year and accumulating an inordinate amount of injuries leading up to and during last week's game, former number five Newman Catholic ended its game against Almond-Bancroft at halftime, as it went down as an 18-6 Almond-Bancroft win. Newman drops out of the rankings, though they hope to return to action this week. Almond-Bancroft moves into the poll at number eight.
