Week 6 WisSports.net Team of the Week Nominees

D.C. Everest Evergreens

D.C. Everest stayed in control of the Wisconsin Valley Conference with a 48-20 win over Eau Claire North on Friday night, moving to 4-0 in the league. The Evergreens jumped out to a 34-7 halftime lead before cruising home for the victory. Two different quarterbacks posted 150+ passer ratings. Jake Staysniak was 11-for-12 for 173 yards and two scores, while Logan George completed nine-of-11 for 130 yards and two touchdowns. Blake Bangston ran for 139 yards and two touchdowns.

Madison West Regents

Madison West took a big step towards its first playoff appearance since 2019, taking down crosstown rival Madison La Follette 19-17 to move to 3-1 in the Big Eight Conference. Michael Souminen threw a pair of touchdowns, and the defense did enough to grab the win, which puts the Regents on the bubble with a chance to clinch with one more win.

Neenah Rockets

Neenah handed Appleton North its first conference loss and in the process kept its slim FVA title chances alive with a 25-14 win on Friday night. Grant Dean returned to action after missing a game, scoring two touchdowns on the ground for the Rockets. Neenah's defense limited Appleton North to just 77 rushing yards on 21 attempts.

New Richmond Tigers

New Richmond scored a huge 23-22 win over defending Division 3 state champion and previous D2 top-ranked squad Rice Lake on Friday night to take control of the Big Rivers Conference race. The Tigers rolled up 376 yards of offense in the game, limiting Rice Lake's rushing attack ot just 140 yards on 38 carries, well below their season average. Joe Hoeppner ran for 133 yards and two touchdowns for the Tigers and head coach Reggie Larson, who also got a big receiving game from Aiden Eckert, while Nick Stellrecht was very efficient throwing the football.

Pewaukee Pirates

Pewaukee earned its first Classic Eight Conference victory with a 20-14 overtime win against Waukesha West, as quarterback Owen Dobberstein went in from nine yards out for the game-winning points in the extra period. Omar Cherrington led the Pirates with 133 rushing yards, scoring on a 23-yard run in the first quarter. Pewaukee is still alive for a possible playoff spot, but will have to win out to clinch or get two more victories to get on the proverbial bubble.
