Many high school football standouts in Wisconsin go on to big things at the college level and in the pros, and this is our spot to recognize those athletes each week and help you keep up with what is going down on some of your favorite players from the past. If you have alumni news, please send it to Colton Wilson

Kewaunee grad and current Indianapolis Colts offensive lineman Tanor Bortolini

NFL

Tanor Bortolini got his number called on Sunday in the Indianapolis Colt's 27-24 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Kewaunee grad was a fourth round pick in this past April's NFL Draft by the Colts and on Sunday got his first ever start in the NFL, in just his rookie season.

Dare Ogunbowale is one the more beloved players on the Houston Texans as he does anything for the team to win, including kicking a game-winning field goal last year when the starting kicker got hurt. The Marquette University grad took advantage of another opportunity on Sunday in the Texan's 24-20 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars.

With 18 seconds left in the game, Ogunbowale caught the game-winning, one-yard score. He finished with four catches for 47 yards, two rushes for seven yards, and a tackle on special teams.

Sun Prairie grad and current North Dakota backup quarterback Jerry Kaminski

Division I

North Dakota blew out Murray State 72-35 this past Saturday as the Fighting Hawks improved to 4-1. In the blowout, redshirt freshman quarterback Jerry Kaminski saw some action. The former Sun Prairie standout threw his first collegiate passes, finishing three of four for 16 yards.

Drew Biber has seen sporadic playing time this year with the Purdue football team. Saturday the Cedarburg grad hauled in three catches for a career high 24 yards despite Purdue's 28-10 loss to Nebraska.

Northern Illinois has lost back-to-back games after shocking the college football by beating Notre Dame two weeks ago. Saturday, the Huskies lost 24-17 to North Carolina State. Fullback Brock Lampe has been used primarily as a blocker during his years with the team. However, the Kenosha Bradford alum found the end zone for the very first time in his collegiate career.

Blake Fletcher is getting progressively more snaps at linebacker for the Air Force football team. The sophomore from Racine Horlick had a career high four tackles this past weekend in the Falcon's 31-19 win over Wyoming.

Shane Dunning has been one of the best kickers in the Pioneer League over the past four seasons for Drake, including a Special Teams Player of the Year in the conference last season. The Muskego grad was on point Saturday in Drake's 30-28 win over San Diego. Dunning went three for three on field goals and three for three on extra points. He knocked through a 48-yard field goal as time expired to win the game, as shown above. Add to that, Dunning punted six times, including an 81-yard boot. He was named the Pioneer League Special Teams Player of the Week.

Nick Howard continues to be an offensive weapon from the quarterback position, leading the high powered Butler offense to a 63-0 win over Virginia-Lynchburg. The Green Bay Southwest grad went four of five for 34 yards and a touchdown while added 48 yards on the ground and another score.

Cumberland grad and current Duluth wide receiver DaShaun Ames

Division II

Duluth destroyed Southwest Minnesota State 62-0 and we're going to highlight a handful of alumni that contributed on both sides.

Elkhorn's Jacob Mogensen started the game off with a bang, returning his first career interception for a 28-yard touchdown a minute and a half into the contest.

Concordia-St. Paul is onto its third quarterback already this season as Menomonie grad Reed Styer got injured in the Bear's 33-20 loss to Minnesota State-Mankato. Greenfield grad Jackson Compton got his shot at signal caller for Concordia and played well. Compton completed 15 of 27 passes for 139 yards and two scores.

Bemidji State blew out the University of Mary 41-7 as a plethora of former Wisconsin high school football standouts contributed to the win. Brookfield East grad Sam McGath has played exceptionally well at quarterback this season for the Beavers. In the victory he went 14 of 23 for 263 yards and two touchdowns, adding a rushing touchdown. Mosinee grad Drayton Lehman caught six passes for 92 yards and two scores while Superior's Jarrett Gronski rushed for a score.

Defensively for the Beaver Theodus Ringgold of Oconomowoc intercepted his second career pass while Milton alum Luke Hessenauer recorded a sack.

Jack Strand has been one of the better statistical quarterbacks in all of Division II football for Minnesota State-Moorhead. The Bloomer grad was exceptional once again in a 43-41 win over Augustana. Strand completed 47 of 67 pass attempts for 475 yards and five touchdowns. He became Moorhead's all-time leading passer in the win as well as being named the Northern Sun Offensive Player of the Week.

On the Augustana sideline, Berlin alum Wyatt Hamersma recorded his first career interception.

Upper Iowa needed all the defensive stops in a 29-27 win over Quincy. Two alumni stepped up to the family. Madison East grad Tyler Owen had six tackles in the win, and recovered a fumble. Wauwatosa West's Avery Dixon had five tackles and an interception. Dixon's interception came in the end zone, keeping Quincy from scoring.

Mondovi grad and current Wartburg running back Dawson Rud

Division III

Wartburg is one of the top teams in Division III football and a former Mondovi grad sees plenty of time at running back. Dawson Rud carried the ball 12 time for 85 yards and two touchdowns in Wartburg's 34-0 shutout win over Nebraska Wesleyan. Rud added three catches for 24 yards.

Carroll University fell to Wheaton, a top-25 ranked team, 22-10 on Saturday despite contributions from a handful of alumni on the defensive side of the ball. Kimberly grad Damon Loker had a team high 16 tackles, including one for loss, and forced a fumble. Will Campbell of Kaukauna had nine tackles, one for loss, while Jagger Vine of Green Bay Preble had four tackles and a sack. Pewaukee's Elliot Mueller had seven tackles, a fumble recovery, and two pass breakups.

It feels every week that Matt Jung is making headlines on the field for Bethel University. The Neenah grad did so once again despite a 45-20 loss to Saint Johns. Jung had a team high 14 tackles, two for loss, and a forced fumble in the loss. He recorded his fifth interception in three games this season, returning it 84 yards for a touchdown. Jung also saw action on offense, where he caught his first collegiate pass and took it 69 yards for a score.

UW-River Falls was the only WIAC team to play this past weekend and improved to 3-0 with a 68-9 win over Mount St. Joseph.

Offensively for the sixth-ranked Falcons, Ben Weselowski of Wittenberg-Birnamwood went four of four for 37 yards and a score. Michael Kruger of River Falls had two rushing scores while both Trevor Asher of Elmwood/Plum City and Isaiah Randall of Baldwin-Woodville found the end zone on the ground as well.

Prescott's Jack Olson led the Falcon defense, recording a team high eleven tackles, including two for loss, a sack, and a pass breakup. Olson was named the WIAC Special Teams Player of the Week.

Gage Timm did a little bit of everything in the win. The Shawano grad had five tackles, including one for loss defensively. He also handled the punting duties, booting two punts for 105 yards and landing one inside the 20.
