She qualified for the sectionals with her score and took full advantage last week. Competing in the Tomah sectional at the Hiawatha Golf Course in Tomah, the senior golfer shot a 77 to win take home medalist honors and advance to the state tournament. Chaffee will be the first girls golfer to advance to state for Chippewa Falls since the 1970's according to Brandon Berg of the Chippewa Herald.

The junior running back carried the ball 35 times for the Hilltoppers for 223 yards and three scores, adding one reception for 24 yards and a 21-yard kickoff return. Marquette is 7-1 overall and 6-0 in the Greater Metro conference having shared at least a share of the conference title with a chance to claim it outright with a win this Friday. Novotny has been a touchdown machine this season, scoring 20 on the ground, one through the air, and one via a kick return.

Xavier Roll, Somerset

Roll has been on a roll this season (all pun intended) for the Somerset boys soccer team, continuing his domination on the pitch this past week in a trio of wins for the Spartans. Somerset knocked off Saint Croix Central 1-0 with Roll scoring the lone goal. He followed that up with two goals and two assists in a 5-0 shutout of Unity/St. Croix Falls. Roll finished the week again scoring the lone goal in a 1-0 win over Osceola. With those wins, Somerset has clinched the Middle Border conference championship and a one-seed in the WIAA playoffs.

Talia Schlindwein, Wausau East/West

The Wausau East/West qualified for sectionals after finished two strokes behind Payton Dudra of Bay Port at the De Pere regional. The Bay Port sectional was hosted at Thornberry Creek at Oneida-Hobart, where Schlindwein would take home medalist honors. She shot a 77, which was good enough for a one stroke win over Emma Cunningham of Green Bay Preble co-oop.

Angela Wang, University School

Wang is headed to her third straight state tournament this week after winning a sub-sectional and sectional last week in girls tennis. The junior tennis player knocked off Ella Wagner of Kettle Moraine 6-0, 6-2 in round one of the sectional and Lizzie Stuckslager of DSHA 1-6, 6-3, 10-3 in the semifinals. Wang finished her week off with a 3-6, 6-1, 13-11 victory over Emily Muresan of Arrowhead to advance to the state tournament, where she'll compete in Division 1 after competing in Division 2 the past two seasons. As a freshman, Wang finished runner-up in Division 2 before avenging her loss to Lily Olson of Edgewood and winning the DII gold last season as a sophomore.
