Germantown at Cedarburg

Certainly a head-scratcher for 7-2 Germantown, who had non-conference wins over Homestead and Hartford, to receive a seven-seed in this group, especially getting seeded behind 5-4 Hartford and 5-4 Wauwatosa West. It means a very difficult opening matchup for second-seeded Cedarburg, who started 6-0 but has lost two of its last three games, including a 45-7 blowout loss to Slinger last week.

Randolph at Ithaca

Ithaca was unbeaten and the champion of the Scenic Bluffs Conference, but got a three-seed in Group D. The Bulldogs will take on Randolph, who finished in a tie for second in the Trailways Conference.

Ellsworth at Mosinee

Mosinee may have a little PTSD seeing a Middle Border Conference team on its playoff schedule, after the Indians lost an absolutely wild game against Somerset in Level 2 last year. Ellsworth enters 6-3 (the same record as Mosinee) in this one against a tough schedule, but got a six-seed.

Marshall at Poynette

These teams met just two weeks ago in an instant classic, going back-and-forth throughout. Poynette took a 21-7 lead mid-way through the third quarter, only to see Marshall respond with a pair of scores, going ahead 22-21 early in the fourth. Poynette got a four-yard Ashton Meister touchdown run and converted the two-point pass for a 29-22 advantage with 5:33 remaining. Marshall marshaled its way down the field to score with 1:29 remaining, but a potential go-ahead two-point pass failed, as Poynette hung on for a 29-28 win.

Oconomowoc at Racine Case

Oconomowoc had an incredible season as one of the biggest surprises in the state. The Raccoons finished 8-1 and shared the title in the brutally-tough Classic Eight Conference. It was a different kind of surprise when the seeding came out, showing Oconomowoc as a six-seed, having to travel to Racine Case. The Eagles were second in the Southeast Conference this year as another of the biggest surprises in the state.
