Collins led the state in rushing last season, and after missing the first two games of the season, has picked up right where he left off. He's gotten better as the season progresses, including in Week 9's 41-7 win over Oshkosh North that solidified an outright FRCC-North title and unbeaten regular season. Collins ran it 26 times for 349 yards and four touchdowns.

Johnson Creek claimed an outright Trailways Conference title with a 43-42 win over Randolph, who was trying to score a share of the crown. Randolph jumped out 16-0 early and led 36-21 early in the fourth quarter. The Bluejays still trailed 42-40 after a touchdown with 1:35 left, but would get the ball back and drive down the field, setting up Tanner Herman for a game-winning 35-yard field goal with just two seconds remaining. Herman had a big game in all phases, completing 16-of-22 passes for 136 yards and a score, ran for 58 yards and a touchdown, and caught a pass for 16 yards on offense. Over on defense, he recorded six tackles. He also connected on four extra points in addition to the game-winning field goal.

It was just a wild chance a couple weeks ago, but Reedsburg claimed a share of a five-way tie for Mississippi Valley Conference title (thanks also to La Crosse Logan beating La Crosse Central), as the Beavers beat Holmen 35-21. Junior running back Landin Purifoy continued his strong play over the last four games, going for more than 200 yards for a second straight contest. He'd carry the ball 28 times for 202 yards and three touchdowns, including an 18-yard scamper late in the fourth quarter to help put the game away. Purifoy also caught a 16-yard pass on a big third and long conversion.

Prairie du Chien downed Lancaster 42-7 to secure an outright SWC crown on Friday night. Senior Blake Thiry, an Indiana recruit, was his usual do-it-all self. He led the Blackhawks with 174 rushing yards on just 10 carries, scoring a rushing touchdown. He also hauled in a pair of passes for 80 yards with another score. Over on defense he had six tackles, plus he punted once for 57 yards.

Weyauwega-Fremont needed to win in Week 9 to clinch a playoff spot, and that they did. The Warhawks took down Colby 35-34, as Kameron Zielke connected with Carter Birdyshaw for a five-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter, with the ensuing extra point putting the team ahead. Zielke threw two touchdown, ran for one, and caught one as well. He'd finish with 224 passing yards, completing 12-of-21 passes. Zielke ran for 87 yards one 12 carries and caught two passes for 16 yards. Oh by the way, he also recorded 11 tackles with an interception on defense plus 58 kick return yards.
