"The King is dead, long live the King"...at least for one week. Madison Memorial was the prohibitive favorite in Division 1 after capture the crown last year and returning a talented roster this season. But someone forgot to tell Sun Prairie, who rallied to force overtime and then won it on a put back at the buzzer by freshman Nick Fuller. The requisite court-storming followed, as did a drop from the top spot in the Coaches Poll. For that, plus a big-time D3 match-up, let's take a look at a division-by-division breakdown.

Week 3 Coaches Poll

Division 1:

As mentioned, the big news of course was the loss by Madison Memorial. So who replaced them and how far did they drop? Arrowhead has put together a solid start to the season, and is the beneficiary and move into the #1 position. Milwaukee Hamilton moves up to #2 while Memorial comes in at #3. Some minor shuffling occurred in the rest of the top ten, while Sun Prairie shot into the rankings at #10, replacing Germantown, who lost to Port Washington after being ranked #15 previously.

Division 2:

The top seven remained intact, with Port Washington strengthening their hold on the #1 spot with a nice win over North Shore rival Germantown on Friday. Five other teams ranked in Week 2 did suffer defeat however, and River Valley is the only one hanging in this week. The Blackhawks lost at home against SWC rival Prairie du Chien, but went on the road last night to beat a good Sauk Prairie team that was ranked #13. Valley is just holding on at #14. Unbeatens New London, Oconto, and Valders are new this week, as is Milwaukee Lutheran, sitting at 3-1 with a nice win over Cedarburg.

Division 3:

The biannual rivalry between Midwest Classic Conference foes Whitefish Bay Dominican and Racine St. Cat's saw Round One played Saturday night. Dominican pulled away in the fourth quarter for a 60-42 win. The victory jumped Dominican from #3 to #2, and dropped St. Cat's from #2 to #4. Dominican is only one point behind top-ranked Fall Creek in this week's poll. #7 Viroqua lost big to Luther, which dropped the Blackhawks out of the rankings. A total of 25 teams have not lost yet this year in Division 3, and three more of those teams moved into the rankings this week. New Glarus, Bonduel, and Grantsburg are new to the poll after Viroqua, Laconia, and Amherst slipped out following losses.

Division 4:

Randolph kept rolling along behind outstanding play from senior Kyle Kelm and remains #1. Last week's #2 and #3 teams lost however. Sheboygan Christian suffered defeat against Oostburg, while Barneveld went down in a close game against a fast-improving Fennimore team. The bottom half of the rankings were once again a mess, with six teams losing, including a couple that lost twice. Racine Lutheran, Prentice, Monticello, Potosi, South Shore, and Turtle Lake get chances to solidify a spot in the rankings this week.
