After a strong weekend at the state track meet Edgar has vaulted into the lead in the race for the WSN Cup's Small School division.  The Wildcat tracksters took home a second place finish in the girl s division and a sixth place on the boy s side.  They now have a cumulative total of 362 points with former #1 Aquinas 66 points behind at 296.83.

The lead may be short-lived however, Aquinas has qualified for the final four of the state tennis tournament and still has a team on the diamond in baseball.

Catholic Memorial used a 5th place boy s track finish and a 7th place girl s finish to extend their lead over Whitefish Bay and Madison Edgewood.    With their baseball, boys tennis, boys golf and girls soccer teams still in the mix Edgewood has the best chance to take over their nickname counterpart.   However, Catholic Memorial will use their 173 point lead and teams remaining in boy s golf and girl s soccer to try and hold on to the title.

In the large school division Arrowhead used a boy s division 1 track title to further extend their lead, making it officially insurmountable for the competition.  Arrowhead will be the Large schools and overall champion of the WSN Cup once again in 2008-2009.

In the top 10 of the large school division the Big 8 conference is represented well with 4 of the ten schools, led by Middleton in 3rd overall.   Madison Memorial (5), Madison West (8) and Verona (9) have also had a great year in athletics this year to help the Big 8 be on the verge of the title of best conference.
