Milwaukee Lutheran quarterback Jake Nelson lit up the Racine St. Catherine defense on Friday in the Red Knight's 45-36 victory over the Angels, eclipsing the 500-yard mark and earning this week's Splash of the Week.

In a game that saw one rusher nearly run for 200 yards, and five players with over 70 yards receiving, Nelson stood out as the star of the game, passing for 521 yards and 6 touchdowns. The senior's passing total ranks him third all-time in Wisconsin history, according to the Wisconsin Football Coaches Association. His six touchdowns in one game also ties him for sixth place on the all-time list.

Nelson hooked up with six different players during his passing performance, three of which went for over 100 yards—Tyler White (117), Kevin Folker (120) and Trevor Kurth (110). Saturday's win also saw the quarterback complete 30 of 45 passes, only 46 completions less than his 2010 season totals.

Milwaukee Lutheran, which has not won more than seven games each of the last eight seasons, will hope for parallel performances in 2011 from their signal caller, who passed for over 1400 yards and 17 touchdowns last year. Nelson should have relative success this week when the Red Knight's take on a Waupun team that has not won a game since November 16, 2009.
