Please note, divisional placement in our poll is based on our Enrollment Projections done earlier this week. Divisional placement in the WIAA playoffs is not determined until after the season and these projections can and will be different than the divisions at the end of the year.

Division 1:

It has been a turbulent two weeks for some of the top teams in Division 1, but an old stalwart is on top of the Week 2 Coaches Poll. Arrowhead scored an impressive come from behind victory over Minnetonka (MN) in front of a national audience on ESPN3.com, then followed it up with a dominating win over a solid Muskego team. Sun Prairie controlled its Week 1 game against defending Big Eight champion Verona, winning 27-7. They check in at #2, followed by Appleton North. Sussex Hamilton has perhaps the two best wins of the year, beating Franklin 31-21 and dominating Marquette 42-3. The Chargers are #4 this week while Homestead rounds out the top five.

Division 2:

It should come as no surprise that Waunakee, the three-time defending champion in this division, is on top of the D2 poll. They have certainly solidified that spot with comeback wins over outstanding Monona Grove and DeForest programs. A pair of Brookfield teams are close behind:  Brookfield East and Brookfield Central. Both teams could slide up to Division 1 depending on how things play out this year. Marshfield is ranked fourth, while Waukesha West is fifth with a 1-1 record. The Wolverines have competed in Division 1 since 2007, but our projections have them almost certainly falling to D2 this season. After a shutout loss to Brookfield East in Week 1, they rebounded with an overtime victory against Mukwonago to open Classic Eight play.

Division 3:

Two-time defending champion West De Pere is the unanimous choice for the top spot in Division 3, with the team they beat in last year's title game, Wisconsin Lutheran, the unanimous pick as the #2 team. West De Pere has outscored its first two opponents 130-13 and show no signs of slowing down. Wisco has a pair of solid wins over Marquette and Hartford. Big Foot, who moved up to D3 for the first time last year, is third, followed by Catholic Memorial and Pewaukee.

Division 4:

Wrightstown lost nine First Team All-Conference selections and most of the skill position players from last year's team, but has opened the season with impressive wins over Kewaunee and Valders. The Tigers open as the #1 team in the Division 4 Coaches Poll. Somerset, who fell to Wrightstown in an overtime thriller in the D4 title game, is second. Lakeside Lutheran, River Valley, and Roncalli round out the top five.

Division 5:

As it was much of last season, Lancaster, Colby, and Brillion are at the top of the Division 5 poll. Colby spent most of last year #1, but are second behind Lancaster to open the season. The teams played an incredible overtime title game last season and are still linked to this day. Amherst if fourth, followed by Kenosha St. Joseph's. Shiocton, who made the title game in Division 6 last year, is in Division 5 in our projections but could easily slide back down to D6.

Division 6:

It comes as no surprise that Saint Mary Springs, who won the D6 title last year and return most of the roster, are the top team in the initial Division 6 Coaches Poll. However, Regis has really opened some eyes to start the year, including a 50-0 dismantling of a very good Stratford team last Thursday. The Ramblers are second, followed by perennial contender Edgar. Hurley sometimes gets forgotten about in the far reaches of the Northwoods, but the Midgets have earned the coaches respect and are ranked fourth. Hilbert, who could fall back down to D7 this year where they may be the favorite, comes in at #5.

Division 7:

Clayton features one of the most explosive offenses in the division and open the season ranked #1 in the Coaches Poll. Potosi, who has been towards the top for several years now, is second. Greenwood/Granton claimed the D7 title last season but suffered heavy graduation losses and went through a coaching change. G2 has refreshed itself, claiming a pair of dominating victories. Randolph and Lake Country Lutheran round out the top five.
