WisSports.net Week 5 Player of the Week Nominees:

Travis Bachler, Lakeside Lutheran -- You would be hard-pressed to find a bigger momentum-changing play than the one produced by Bachler on Friday. Taking on fellow unbeaten and crosstown rival Lake Mills in a match-up of top five ranked Capitol-North teams, the host Warriors held a 7-0 lead in the first quarter. Lake Mills was driving and on the doorstep of tying the game. However, Bachler stepped in front of a Lake Mills pass and took it 101 yards the other way for a touchdown, aided by an outstanding block by Brennan Leis. Instead of potentially being a tie game, it was now 14-0 Lakeside, and they never looked back en route to a 28-7 win.

Bobby Dunn, Madison Edgewood -- Things were not looking good early on for the Crusaders, who trailed Milton 30-13 in the second quarter of Friday night's key Badger-South Conference game. Edgewood was able to get a score to pull within 30-20 at halftime, but still trailed by that margin heading into the fourth. Dunn pulled the team within three points on a 43-yard touchdown pass to Jake Dragoo, but the outlook was dim after the Crusaders took over on their own 1 yard line with two minutes to go. Dunn was unfazed though, leading a drive down the field that culminated with a 19-yard touchdown pass to Sam Schemmel for the game-winning points as Edgewood claimed a 33-30 victory. Dunn completed just 11 of 24 passes, but got it done when it mattered. He threw for 185 yards to go with the two touchdowns.

Hayden Krueger, Crandon -- Two of the top rushers in Northeast Wisconsin squared off Friday night as Hayden Krueger and Crandon took on Ben Fischer and Crivitz. Krueger won the individual battle and in turn helped the Cardinals claim the team victory 28-22 in overtime. He carried the ball 43 times for 307 yards and 2 touchdowns, and also scored on a pair of two-point conversions. It was his 1-yard touchdown plunge in overtime that gave the team the win. He also recorded 8 tackles on defense.

Matt Salm, Bloomer -- It was a wild game as Bloomer took on Spooner in a Heart O'North battle on Friday. Spooner went up 21-0 and 27-6 but Bloomer scored the next three touchdowns to tie it up at 27 and force overtime. After knocking home the tying extra point in the closing minutes of regulation, Salm was called on to win the game in overtime. He connected on a 42-yard field goal on a cold, rainy night as the Blackhawks escaped with a victory.

Zach Sutton, Whitnall -- The Falcons found themselves down 23-8 to South Milwaukee on Friday when Sutton went to work. He threw three touchdown passes to help Whitnall take a 37-23 lead and they held on for a 37-30 victory. On the day he completed 18 of 32 passes for 308 yards with 4 touchdowns, while adding 39 yards on the ground. The school has produced some outstanding quarterbacks recently, including current Wisconsin Badgers starter Joel Stave, and Sutton is continuing that lineage. He's passed for 1268 yards and 14 touchdowns so far this season.
