Week 2 WisSports.net Boys Basketball Coaches Poll

Week 1 WisSports.net Boys Basketball Coaches Poll

Division 1

Germantown has been ranked #1 every week since the Week 1 poll in 2011-12, and that certainly continues, as the Warhawks are a unanimous choice once again. Brookfield Central is still second, while Milwaukee Hamilton's loss to Pewaukee drops the Wildcats from #3 all the way out of the rankings. Neenah (#6) leap-frogged Stevens Point (#7) after beating the Panthers in a non-conference game last week. An impressive showing to win the Hank Raymonds Classic allowed Marquette to move into the #10 spot.

Division 2

Seymour holds onto the #1 spot in the Division 2 poll, while two of the top four teams this week (#2 Wisconsin Lutheran, #4 Rice Lake) don't even play their first games until this evening. Losses by Milwaukee Washington and Pius XI moved both teams down the rankings to #5 and #10 respectively. Pewaukee has one of the most impressive resumes of any team in the state so far, with wins over Pius and Milwaukee Hamilton last week, moving the Pirates into the rankings at #9.

Division 3

Lodi is the unanimous #1 team in Division 3, and why not? The Blue Devils are off to an impressive 3-0 start behind many of the same players who led the team to great success in recent seasons. Aquinas fell to Stoughton last week and moves from #4 to #8. Edgerton and Laconia are unbeaten and move into this week's rankings at #7 and #9 respectively.

Division 4

Dominican is a unanimous pick as the top team in Division, which comes as no surprise. Despite a loss to Kenosha Tremper last week, Racine St. Catherine's remains a strong #2 pick by the coaches. Cuba City's loss to Monona Grove dropped the Cubans from #4 to #9, while former #5 Blair-Taylor's defeat at the hands of Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau sent them outside the top ten. Brillion and Shiocton are new teams in this week's poll.

Division 5

With #1-ranked Green Bay NEW Lutheran suffering a tight loss to last year's D2 champion Pulaski last week, would the Blazers hold on to the top spot? The answer was a strong "yes" according to the voters, as NEW Lutheran easily received the most votes. In all, the top five is unchanged from last week. Former #6 Thorp and #7 Columbus Catholic did drop out after combining for three losses last week, as Southwestern and Hillsboro move into the poll.
