Kettle Moraine girls basketball scored a pair of big wins last week to make a statement in the Classic Eight Conference. The Lasers are this week's PlayintheDells.com Splash of the Week

Kettle Moraine finished just 10-13 last year, losing in the first game of the postseason. In the off-season they underwent a coaching change as Mike Hamilton took over for Janine Emmer.

The Lasers made a statement in the Classic Eight Conference last week, knocking off Catholic Memorial 54-32 on Tuesday before shocking Mukwonago, last year's conference champ and D1 runners-up currently ranked #10 in the WisSports.net Coaches Poll, by a final of 44-37 on the road.

Kettle Moraine's defense was outstanding, as despite being outshot 48-26 in field goal attempts, they held Mukwonago to just 28% from the field, shooting 54% themselves.

With the victory, Kettle Moraine takes early control of the league race, as they are the only unbeaten team in conference play through four games. It is still very early of course; last year Mukwonago won the high competitve league with a pair of losses. The Lasers are in a good position heading into the meat of the league schedule however.

The Splash of the Week is sponsored by PlayInTheDells.com. It highlights the player, coach or team that has "made a splash" in the world of high school sports. This could mean coming out of nowhere to do something great, going above and beyond the call of duty, etc.  If you have a nominee for Splash of the Week please send it to info@wissports.net.
