MEN’S BASKETBALL

Joe Ritchay, Senior (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis./Lincoln), Guard/Forward of UW-Stevens Point
Ritchay recorded his second-career double-double on Feb. 7 as part of a 2-0 week for No. 15-ranked UW-Stevens Point.  He tallied 18 points and 10 rebounds in a 67-55 victory at UW-Platteville, including a season-high four three-pointers.  He also added two assists, one blocked shot and three steals and committed just one turnover in the game.  In a 63-40 win against UW-River Falls on Feb. 4, Ritchay had 16 points and seven rebounds.  For the week, he averaged 17.0 points, 8.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.5 steals per game. Ritchay shot 44.4 percent (12-for-27) from the field, 50.0 percent (6-for-12) from behind the arc and made all four of his free throws.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
Abby Midtlien, Sophomore (Chaseburg, Wis./Westby), Guard of UW-Eau Claire
Midtlien helped lead the Blugolds to two home conference victories.  In a 64-59 win over conference-leading UW-Superior on Feb. 4, Midtlien scored 15 points to go along with three rebounds and one assist with no turnovers.  She made five-of-seven field goal attempts, including a perfect three-for-three from the three-point line and two-of-two free throws.  In a 64-49 triumph over UW-Whitewater on Feb. 7, Midtlien posted a game-high 15 points, in addition to collecting six rebounds and one steal with no turnovers in 30 minutes of action.  It was the first home victory for the Blugolds over the Warhawks since December 10, 2011.  For the week, Midtlien averaged 15 points and 4.5 rebounds per game, to go along with one assist and one steal.  Midtlien made 10-of-16 (.625) field goals, including five-of-eight (.625) three-point field goals and five-of-six (.833) free throws.

Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference

Benedictine's Tim McGinty has been named the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Men's Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week for events of February 2-8, as selected by the league's sports information directors. McGinty (Chicago, Ill.) scored over 24 points in both contests this week, a pair of Benedictine wins. The senior forward netted a season-best 28 points in an overtime win at Aurora, playing nearly the entire game. He then added 24 points in a victory over MSOE. McGinty shot over 60 percent from the floor in both contests and averaged 8.5 rebounds. Other nominations: Tyler Hall, Aurora; Keith Kahlfeldt, Concordia Wisconsin; Trevor Neale, Edgewood; Travis Kell, Lakeland; Drew Binversie, Marian; Trae Blumhorst, Rockford; Nate Siemers, Wisconsin Lutheran.

Wisconsin Lutheran's Kristen Schulz has been named the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Women's Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week for events of February 2-8, as selected by the league's sports information directors. Schulz (Safford, Ariz.) averaged 29.0 points, 17.5 rebounds, and 6.0 blocks per game last week as the Warriors won twice to take over sole possession of first place in the NACC. The senior center came within one block of her third triple-double of the season Tuesday and poured in 31 points Saturday.
