WSN 8-Man Football Awards

The WSN 8-Man Football Awards were launched in 2016 to recognize the outstanding players participating in reduced player football. Awards presented will be Offensive Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year. All players are eligible regardless of grade level.

Each year, a preseason Watch List will be produced, then narrowed down to five finalists to be announced the week prior to the 8-Man Jamboree. Winners will be announced the week following the 8-Man Jamboree.

These awards are not associated with any conference nor the WFCA awards, and are presented independently by WisSports.net.

Defensive Player of the Year - Preston Lane, Luck

Preston Lane of Luck has been selected as the 2016 8-Man Football Defensive Player of the Year by WisSports.net.

"Preston is the best all around defensive player that I have ever coached at a non-all star situation," said co-head coach Ryan Humpal. "He was truly the dominant force in the conference. Every head coach commented that they needed to scheme away from him."

As a senior, he led the Lakeland-8 in the regular season with 89 total tackles. He added 12 tackles, including a tackle for loss, in the 8-Man Jamboree victory over Oakfield. On the season he finished with 18 tackles for loss and 3 sacks, spending considerable time in opposing backfields.

Other finalists for the award included Will Donohoe of Abundant Life/St. Ambrose, Jase Kuffel of Northwood/Solon Springs, Tylan Parman of Wisconsin Heights, and Jordan Siebert of Prairie Farm.
