Three players earned unanimous selection to highlight the 2018 Division 2 WBCA All-State Team: Savanna Crockett of Milwaukee Vincent, Sydney Hilliard of Monroe, and McKenna Warnock of Monona Grove.
Hilliard and Warnock were unanimous selections last season. Shay Frederick of Hortonville is also a repeat first-team pick.
Crockett led Milwaukee Vincent to a 22-3 record and sectional appearance. The Vikings fell to state champion Beaver Dam, 43-41, in a sectional semifinal. The senior and Cleveland State recruit averaged 16.8 points, 10.7 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.6 steals and 1.9 blocks per game for coach James Wright and the Vikings.
Hilliard led Monroe to its second consecutive trip to the Resch Center. The junior averaged 22.3 points, 6.3 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 2.7 steals per game for coach Sam Mathiason and the Cheesemakers who finished the year with a 24-3 record. Sydney holds numerous Division I offers, including Wisconsin, Marquette, UW-Green Bay and UW-Milwaukee.
Warnock finished 4th in the state in scoring with 28.5 points per game, to go along with 12.9 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 2.3 steals and 2.5 blocks per contest for coach Tyler Kuehl and the Silver Eagles. She holds a long list of Division I offers, including all four in-state programs.
Frederick helped lead Hortonville to its second straight trip to the state tournament. The senior and Valparaiso recruit averaged 16.2 points with 86 three-pointers, along with contributing 5 assists and 2.6 steals per game for coach Celeste Ratka and the Polar Bears.
Emma Gamoke of Onalaska averaged 15.7 points per game with 79 three-pointers, along with contributing 4.4 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.2 steals per game for coach Shane Schmeling and the Hilltoppers (22-4). Gamoke helped Onalaska reach the state tournament as a sophomore.
Julia Hintz led New Berlin Eisenhower to a 24-4 record and state runner-up finish. The junior averaged 13.8 points per game with 74 three-pointers, to go along with 5.3 assists and 2.6 steals per contest for coach Gary Schmidt and the Lions. She helped Eisenhower capture the state title as a sophomore.
Alyssa Nelson of New Berlin West was chosen as the Woodland-West Player of the Year. The senior averaged 15.7 points, 6 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 3.4 steals per game for coach Collin Thompson and the Vikings who finished the year with a 16-9 record and reached sectional play.
Brooke Olson led Rice Lake to a 16-8 record and was chosen as the Big Rivers Player of the Year. The senior and Minnesota Duluth (NCAA D-II) recruit averaged 22.3 points, 12.7 rebounds, 2 assists, 1.6 steals and 1.2 blocks per game for coach and mother Darla Olson.
Hailey Oskey of Seymour was presented as the 2018 Miss Basketball last weekend at the Resch Center. The senior and UW-Green Bay recruit averaged 18.6 points, 6.2 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 2.8 steals per game for coach Bobby Kuchta and the Thunder who reached sectional play and finished the year with a 23-2 record.
Jaddan Simmons led Green Bay Southwest to a 15-9 record and was named FRCC Player of the Year as a sophomore. The Division I prospect averaged 21.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 4.1 assists, 3.8 steals and 1.4 blocks per game for coach Erin Barkley and the Trojans.
Tara Stauffacher helped lead Beaver Dam to its second consecutive state championship. The junior and Wisconsin Badgers recruit averaged 10.5 points per game for coach Tim Chase and the Golden Beavers who finished the season with a 25-2 record.
